If you are ever in need of a case study to identify the path to stardom, then look no further than Tollywood as the most recent sensation Vijay Deverakonda is a walking personification of the same. The star hero who started with small character roles is now looking at a mind-boggling opening for his upcoming movie LIGER and his journey has been nothing short of a dream.
His big break came in the form of Arjun Reddy who shook off the shackles of convention and portrayed the attitude of the current generation, BE YOU! The hero lived up to the role like no other can and what started then was a cult. His follow-up in Pelli Choopulu as a wayward youngster and Geetha Govindham as a loving family boy kept on adding following from the female and family audience and he’s not had to look back a day after.
His popularity with back-to-back hits grew to such an extent that a movie with moderate hype Dear Comrade opened to an excellent opening in the Telugu states, one in the top 3, which by no means is a simple feat. And with his latest offering LIGER now, the hero is looking to push the boundaries of openings, and the movie is now expected to open in upwards of 20 crores worldwide, a number which propels him to a different league in the game of numbers.
It is not just with movies that the hero has gained some following but his off-screen antics as well. Conventional or playing by the book is not something you associate with Vijay. What Vijay reminds you of is maverick, that if I don’t give an “effing F” and while this has not gone all that subtle time and again, it has kept him in the buzz, got him some popularity, and even made his name the following rowdies and start merchandising it.
The hero with all this madness of a following has now reached a state where a flop hasn’t affected his craze and if this is a pattern to continue, then we are looking at a hero who has risen from zero to the top in no time.
