Story:
The Tiger, a battalion of the Indian Air Force celebrated for their valor and success, is led by Captain Ahuja (Akshay Kumar). Tabby, also referred to as TK Vijaya (Veer Pahariya), embodies bravery as a young soldier who chooses to rescue others instead of sticking to protocols. Following the strike by the Pakistan Air Force that causes many Indian cadets to suffer casualties, The Tigers opt to take action and deliver a robust reply to the adjacent country. Although the mission wraps up, Tabby goes missing and is declared lost in action for a decade before Ahuja uncovers a lead and restarts the inquiry.
Performances:
Akshay Kumar puts in a commendable effort and seeks to enhance the entertainment value. Veer Pahariya puts in considerable effort to stand out and has made a strong impression as a first-time actor. Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur, and the others were fine.
What worked for the film:
The storyline of the film draws from actual events and sincerely depicts Squadron Leader Ajjamada B. Devayya, an Air Force pilot honored with the Mahavir Chakra. The film reaches its peak when the filmmakers leave behind common tropes in the initial half and venture into less obvious territory, allowing for a redemptive narrative that culminates in a deeply moving climax. The entire segment that unveils the fate of Tabby and emphasizes the greatness of his sacrifice is executed beautifully.
What did not work for the film:
Although the film strives for authenticity, it unfortunately succumbs to clichés and becomes formulaic during the first half. The development of the main characters, Ahuja and Tabby, needed improvement, and additional scenes featuring them could have effectively highlighted their connection. The same applies to the track of Tabby and Geeta. The air strike sequences also should have been taken care of.
Sky Force Movie Review and Verdict:
The film attempts to recognize the bravery and sacrifices of India's military during the 1965 Indo-Pak War. Although its intentions shine through, the storytelling lacks sufficient emotional depth. The second half works better with a heartfelt climax.
