Story:

The story revolves around a super-smart cop who wants to take a break from the police force. However, when the reason behind his resignation comes to light, he is assigned a challenging case. The rest of the film follows his journey as he tracks down the suspect and solves the mystery while battling his own health issues.

Performances:

Suriya looks fantastic, carries the required swag throughout, and delivers a convincing performance. Naslen is impressive as the antagonist, adding an interesting quirky touch to his character. Nazriya makes a good impression, while Anandraj, Lal, Raj Priyan, and the rest of the supporting cast also deliver good performances.

What Works:

The intriguing opening sequence, set against the backdrop of a murder, effectively establishes Naslen's character. Suriya's introduction is equally impressive and comes with a fresh touch. The twist surrounding his resignation and the subsequent murder mystery work reasonably well.

Some fun moments involving Suriya and Nazriya are enjoyable, while the final 30 minutes pack a solid punch. Sushin Shyam's music complements the narrative beautifully. Director Jithu Madhavan also impresses with his use of meta references and a uniquely staged action sequence involving Suriya and Nazriya, which brings a refreshing touch to the film.

What Doesn't Work:

Despite maintaining a good flow in the first half, the film feels fairly ordinary for a while. The parents' characters, despite being introduced effectively, fail to maintain the same impact as the story progresses. The second half also feels repetitive and stretched in certain portions, affecting the overall pace.

Scene Review And Verdict:

Jithu Madhavan's Scene is an entertaining ride, but it is not without its share of shortcomings. The main plot is established well, and the central conflict is genuinely interesting. The first half offers several enjoyable moments, but the second half encounters a few bumps along the way.

Naslen's character and his mind games with Suriya deserved a much stronger execution. Nevertheless, the climax delivers the required impact and helps the film finish on a satisfying note. Overall, Scene is an engaging entertainer with some solid moments, even if it falls short of its full potential.
