Story:

RV (Arun) loves cricket, but his father, Harshavardhan, constantly urges him to study and earn a top rank. Despite him being good at studies and finishing at the tenth rank, he faces his father’s anger. As the academic year gets over, for summer holidays, RV moves to his grandmother, Jayasudha, in Thotavaripalem.

KV (Roshan), is the son of the domestic helper in KV's grandmother's house. He carries financial burden in his childhood itself, as his father passed away without clearing debts. His goal is to care for his mother and buy her a beautiful saree for her birthday.

The main crux of the story is about the friendship of RV and KV. How will their bond unfold, and what impact will it have in their lives?

Performances:

Arun and Rohan deliver standout performances as the leads in Summer Holidays, capturing the necessary innocence while effectively conveying raw emotion during key sequences. The supporting cast is equally impressive, with Jaya Sudha providing a graceful performance in a pivotal role, alongside strong contributions from Vasuki Anand, Raajev Kanakala, Harshavardhan, and Harshini Koduri. Additionally, Khushi, Ramana Bhargav, Mahesh Chintala, and the rest of the ensemble cast are perfectly suited to their respective roles.

What Works:

Srikar Nayan’s directorial debut, Summer Holidays, is a touching collection of relatable childhood moments, with nostalgic elements thoughtfully integrated to ground the film’s emotional journey.

The film beautifully depicts the evolving friendship between RV and KV, capturing how their shared daily adventures enrich their lives and illustrating the profound way they support one another through challenging times.

The scenes between RV and his grandmother are also good, and the moments near the pre-climax and climax really give a heartfelt feeling.

What Doesn't Work:

While the film is largely engaging, the pacing occasionally feels sluggish, and a few sequences lean toward being overly dramatic.

Summer Holidays Review And Verdict:

Srikar Nayan’s Summer Holidays is a heartfelt and endearing film that beautifully captures the essence of childhood. Despite the simple storyline, the nostalgic moments seamlessly weave relatable moments into a narrative that explores the deep bond between the two leads. While the pacing occasionally feels a bit sluggish and some sequences lean into melodrama, the film remains an engaging watch that is anchored by strong performances and a genuinely moving climax.
