Allari Naresh's his new film Itlu Maredumalli Prajaaneekam has caught the attention of the audience with its interesting promos. Let’s see if the film has sustained the same interest with its content or not.
Story:
Srinivas(Allari Naresh) is a Telugu teacher who is sent to Marudemalli forest area to conduct elections. After landing there, he comes to know the pathetic situation of the villagers, who are struggling for basic facilities. He struggles to make them understand the importance of vote and elections to the villagers, who are not ready to listen to his words. How does he manage to fulfil his goal and what problems did he and villagers have faced in the course of the elections form the rest of the story?
Analysis:
The first half starts on a heavy emotional note showing the plight of the villagers of Maredumilli. Then the focus shifts for a few minutes to introduce the character of hero and others. After the hero enters the village, his interactions with the villagers and the love track were passable. Pre interval episode was effective, but the interval bang looks a bit forced.
However, that feeling lost soon after a proper twist justified the interval. The inefficient govt plotting foolish acts to get the upper hand and the villagers responding to them is portrayed in a decent way. Last half an hour make the film much better with convincing climax and thought-provoking dialogues.
Director Mohan should be appreciated for making a film with a different backdrop. Though the narration looks old school at times and the emotional depth should have been taken care of, he has made the sincerity in his thoughts reflect in crucial scenes.
Performances:
Allari Naresh who was once known for his comedy films has changed his track from Naandhi. In IMP, his performance as a Telugu teacher is near to perfect. Heroine Anandi looks beautiful and though she hasn't given a proper role, she did well as per her part.
Vennela Kishore got a nice role, and he provided some good laughs. Actor Shritej gets a meaty role, and he was quite impressive. The actor's choice for the village head role was not good. A better known artist could have made the role of the village head more effective. Sampath as the collector and Praveen as the village guy have done their parts well.
Technical elements:
Dialogues were perfect which gave right kind of impact in comic scenes as well as in crucial and emotional scenes.
Camera work was good, and production design is authentic. Music of the film by Sri Charan Pakala's were fine. But the Background Score was very effective.
Plus:
Initial moments
Pre interval
Dialogues
Last half an hour
Casting except for the role of village head role
Minus:
Lack of emotional depth
Few dull moments
Beaten to death kind feel at places
Final Note:
On the whole, Itlu Maredumalli Prajaaneekam is a film made with honest intentions. The backdrop, performances, and second half work for the film, whereas the lack of emotional depth and some dull moments in the film work against it. The film can be watched with a bit of patience.
