Story:
Hyderabad faces a murder spree, leading the police department to task ADGP Dhruva (Vijay Antony) with the investigation. Dhruva believes Aravind (Ajay Dhishan) is responsible for the killings. As the investigation continues, he discovers shocking truths. What did Dhruva learn about Aravind? Who is the real killer, and what is their motive? The movie reveals the answers to these questions.
Performances:
Vijay Antony gives a calm performance as an investigative police officer. Samuthirakani's role lacks significance. The portrayal of Ajay Dhishan's character is intriguing, and he acts effectively. Brigida and Mahanati Shankar are apt.
What worked for the film:
The interesting part of a film is that the usual main aspect in crime mystery thrillers gets a unique twist here. Ajay Dhishan's character really connects with the audience, and his unique trait shines in key moments, making it the film's standout feature.
The portrayal of brother-sister emotions is good. The plot twists at the interval and climax leave their mark.
What did not work for the film?
Vijay Antony’s backstory is disappointing. His character feels flat in this segment, and the intrigue around the crime could have been better. Some investigative parts lack excitement, and the conclusion feels hurried. The killer's motive required better writing. Also, the love subplot in the first half disrupts the story.
Maargan Review and Verdict:
Leo John Paul's Maargan has an intriguing idea and some exciting moments that really hit the mark. The movie has a few flat and overused spots, but it keeps you engaged all the way through.
