Story:
Babu Mohan, played by Sri Simha Koduri, and Yesu Dasu, portrayed by Comedian Satya, serve on the High Emergency (HE) team. They enjoy a strong friendship at the workplace and act as partners in crime. The narrative of Mathu Vadalara 2 focuses on how both these protagonists become involved in a murder case and what efforts they make to prove their innocence
Performances:
Sri Simha was decent as Babu. He looked convincing in a few scenes where he showed frustration. Satya gave a terrific performance and stood above all the others. His flamboyant body language, dialogue delivery, and expressions provided limitless fun. Faria Abdullah was okay along with Rohini Molleti and Ajay. Vennela Kishore, Sunil, and Raja Chembrolu were only present and did not add any value to the film.
What worked for the film:
The director of Mathu Vadalara 2 is Ritesh Rana, who also helmed the original movie. He successfully handled the entertainment part and extracted the required quirkiness in the characters. The initial kidnap episode perfectly establishes the characters and tone of the film. Whether it's the operation style of the HE Team, Operation Thaskara, or Satya's punches, all land perfectly. The basic idea and intention behind the whole murder case are also appreciable. Though the final twist can be expected, the chaos before and after it works well for the film.
What did not work for the film:
The second half of the film suffers from predictability and some uninteresting episodes. For example, when Sunil's character doubts that Babu and Yesu are guilty, one gets excited to see the cat-and-mouse game between them. However, the proceedings after that do not have the required effect. Also, Vennela Kishore's track appears dragged despite being funny initially. The key link between the other characters and the murderer should have been handled more effectively.
Mathu Vadalara 2 Review and Verdict:
Mathu Vadalara 2 is a hilarious ride with an excellent first and decent second half. Once again, Satya shines through his clever one-liners and unrepentant attitude. Even with the monotonous scenes in the latter half, the film ultimately ends well.
