Story:
Yudhra (Siddhant Chaturvedi) loses his parents in a devastating car accident. His mother dies prior to his birth, but Yudhra survives miraculously, and the doctors mention that his medical condition can affect his behavior because of the strange birth. The rest of the story is about the consequences Yudhra faces because of his anger issues and how Nikhat (Malavika Mohanan), his childhood friend and lover, Rahaman (Ram Kapoor), Nikhat's father, and his uncle help in achieving a purpose in life.
Performances:
Siddhant Chaturvedi has done a good job as Yudhra, and if only his characterization had been better, he could have shown more impact. Malavika Mohanan was decent, and she surprised by brilliantly performing in an important action scene. Raj Arjun was perfect as the menacing Feroz, while Raghav Juyal, who was excellent in Kill, gets a character that is poorly written. Gajaraj Rao and Ram Kapoor did well in supporting roles.
What worked for the film:
Though his character did not have a proper arc, Siddhant impresses in the title role and tries to hold the film together. However, the film's major plus point is the action choreography. Each and every action episode was done perfectly. A crucial emotional moment in the latter half works well for the film, though not great.
What did not work for the film:
The biggest minus point of the film, Yudhra, is that it never gets the required emotional depth. The film's lead character itself looks confused, and audiences never root for him because of his behavior. There is a strange medical condition attached to the hero's anger issues, but they are never properly explained. Also, after a point, this anger issue disappears just like that. So, because of all this, his fight for justice or his want for revenge never gets the emotional connection. The romance track also looks very convenient, as the bonding between Yudhra and Nikaht does not look organic. The crucial twists in the film are easily guessable by far. Especially, the audiences can easily guess the mastermind who is behind the entire game is introduced way before the twist lands at the climax.
Yudhra Review and Verdict:
Even though the action sequences impress, Yudhra suffers from a tangled plot, inadequate direction, and bland music, which make it difficult to enjoy. Siddhant Chaturvedi tries his best to make the proceedings convincing, but his efforts go in vain.
