Story:

This film serves as a prequel to the 2017 release 'Mufti', exploring the backstory of the lead character, Bhairathi Ranagal, and highlighting his ascent to power.

Performances:

Shivarajkumar delivers a convincing performance as Bhairati Ranagal. He continues the good work which he had done in the first part. His commanding screen presence and perfect dialogue delivery take the impact of some important scenes in the movie to the next level. Rukmini Vasanth made her presence felt while Rahul Bose, Avinash, Devaraj, and Gopalkrishna Deshpande were fine.

What worked for the film:

Shivarajkumar brings an elegant touch to his role. Despite portraying the lead gangster, he effectively embodies the essence that we have come to associate with the character. Although he has limited dilaogues, his arresting screen presence holds the film together. Narthan skillfully utilizes the actor's intense eys to depict why the character commands fear among others. All the action episodes in the film are good along with the hero elevation scenes in the secon dhalf. Especially, the registrar scene in the second half is superb.

What did not work for the film:

The film's first half is affected because of lack of engaging moments, as it tries to pour in emotional scenes one after another. The conventional narrative presents minimal unexpected developments, and the film is hindered by uneven pacing before it gets the required high during the interval. The villain character appers weak, though it is shown constantly trying to get the upperhand on the protagonist, it lacked the kick/intensity which was required for a bigshot.

Bhairathi Ranagal Review and Verdict:

Bhairathi Ranagal is significantly enhanced by the impressive screen presence of Shivarajkumar, who elevates the crucial episodes of the film that have the required mass appeal, effectively driving a regular narrative which shows the origin story of a gangster.
