Story:

Rooh Baba (Karitk Aaryan) and his friend deceive people into thinking that he possesses the ability to communicate with spirits and protect those who are possessed and he makes money through this technique. Nevertheless, he is unable to show his magic on Meera, portrayed by Triptii Dimri, and gets caught. Meera, along with her uncle (Rajesh Mishra), intends to expose Rooh Baba's fraudulent acts on social media unless he consents to accompany them to Rakht Ghat. So, Rooh Baba accompanies Meera and her uncle to Rakht Ghat only to find out about some shocking incidents in a royal palace which has a connection to his past life. How is Rooh Baba's past connected with the palace? What is the link between Maliika (Vidya Balan), and Mandira (Madhuri Dixit) who come to the palace for their own reasons? The answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Performances:

Kartik Aaryan entertains as much as he can in Rooh Baba's Character. Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit did not have any great scope but they brought the effectivity in crucial scenes with their performance. Triptii Dimri as Meera has done a decent job. Sanjay Mishra, Rajpal Yadav, Ashwini Kalsekar, Vijay Raaz, and Rajesh Mishra were perfect in supporting roles and produced some good laughs.

What worked for the film:

The initial scene of Manjulika, the renowned ghost character of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise raises expectations for the film. As expected, the film takes a funny route after the introduction of Rooh Baba, the first few scenes in the royal palace work well. The key twist during the interval is not great but raises the anticipation towards the second half. The second half has some well-worked fun parts and thrills and before things get repetitive, the backstory near the climax comes across as a surprise and adds the emotional factor to the movie.

What did not work for the film:

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has some underwhelming elements. The renowned actresses like Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan did not get good characters. Although they made some scenes interesting with their presence, one gets the feeling that they have been underutilized in the film. There are also some repetitive parts in the film that add to the boredom.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Review and Verdict:

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is an enjoyable horror comedy with engaging and lighthearted thrills along with fun moments that are the major elements of the series. Though it has a boring feel in a few places, the backstory at the climax is surprising and works effectively.
