Story:
Bachhala Malli, portrayed by Allari Naresh, is a headstrong and irresponsible person whose life takes an aimless path due to his decision to abandon his education and succumb to alcohol addiction, because of the strained relationship with his father. His life takes a transformative turn when he encounters Kaveri, played by Amritha Aiyer, who inspires him to find direction and meaning. The narrative explores the reasons behind Malli's hatred towards his father and the various obstacles that arise for both Malli and Kaveri as they try to make their love story a success, which ultimately shapes the remainder of the story.
Performances:
Allari Naresh's performance as Malli was fantastic. The sincerity and urge to excel was evident in each and every scene. Undoubtedly, his acting is the biggest plus point for the movie. Amrita Aiyer was fine as the female lead. Rao Ramesh and Achyuth Kumar were convincing though their characters did not have much scope. Rohini's portrayal of Malli's mother was regular. Praveen and Hariteja provided some humorous moments and excelled in emotional scenes as well. Harsha Chemudu's character was irritating while Ankith Koyya performed effectively within the limited screen time afforded to him.
What worked for the film:
As said above Allari Naresh delivered a commendable performance throughout the film. The intial part of the film ins interesting. Also, a few scenes in the love track work well. The interval raises the expectations towards second half with a shocking kind of scene.
What did not work for the film:
the writing and direction by Subbu Mangadevvi failed to match Naresh's intense portrayal. Additionally, the screenplay selected by the director is rather predictable and lacks freshness. Hero and his father thread, and the love track had the emotional foundation but
most of the scenes just come and go without leaving any impact. The second half of the film should have taken the narrative to the next level, but it turns out to be a tedious affair and despite so much happening in the life of Mallli, one would never bother to feel for him, because of the weak wriiting. Malli hating his father looks convicing at the initial stage, but afterwared when he displays the same anger in an unexpected situation, it gives an unconciving feel . The same can be sadi about his behavior towards Kaveri, for whom he changes completely but still is adamant because of a small condition put by her father. The climax could have had a deep effect on audiences if the rest of the film had maintained a good depth. However, it comes across as disconnected because of all the uneffective proceedings appeared until then.
Bacchala Malli Review and Verdict:
Although Bacchala Malli has a very truthful premise, the absence of excitement in the screenplay lessens its depth and affects its overall impact.
