Story:
The second season of Rana Naidu is more personal. It now focuses on whether Rana can end the strife endangering his own family rather than on his solving problems for famous people. While his son Ani (Madhav Dhingra) and daughter Nitya deal with their own uncertainties, his marriage to his wife Naina (Surveen Chawla) is more difficult than ever. Things are made more difficult by the goals and relationships of Rana's brothers, Tej (Sushant Singh) and Jaffa (Abhishek Banerjee). Tension is further increased by Rana's changing relationships with his boss, OB Mahajan (Rajesh Jais); the Oberoi family (Rajat Kapoor); and the arrival of his new enemy, Rauf (Arjun Rampal).
Performances:
Rana Daggubati delivers a poised and refined performance as the lead. He appears confident in the emotional scenes and performs well in action parts as well. Venkatesh adds humor with his unique expressions and dry wit. But his character does not have the charm or the importance as in the first part.
Krithi Kharbanda impresses in a crucial role with style and depth, while Arjun Rampal makes a perfect impact as the main baddie. Sushanth Singh, Rajat Kapoor, and Dino Morea are fine, but Abhishek Banerjee shines with more screen time and a proper arc.
What worked for the series:
The initial moments in the show capture one's attention and hint at a solid game afterward. The last two episodes work well, as good action parts come towards the end, and a few crucial emotional moments also come out well in between. The lead to the third part is interesting.
What did not work for the series?
The writing of Rana Naidu Season 2 is inconsistent. The idea is strong, but the weak actions of villains and unexciting middle portions weaken the execution. The bond or the enmity between Rana and Naga Naidu feels weak, even with an emphasis on the family emotion this time. The father-son relationship feels shallow, and one does not feel the intrigue around it.
Rana Naidu Season 2 Review and Verdict:
Rana Naidu Season 2 has some intense moments, particularly towards the ending. But most of its parts are ordinary and fail to live up to their potential. Rana, Krithi Kharbanda, and Arjun Rampal deliver convincing performances; Venkatesh has little to do.
