A wealthy businessman comes up with an unusual plan to convert his black money into legal income. He hires Dev (Rajpal Yadav) and Das (Paresh Rawal), two of the industry's most unsuccessful directors, and gives them a mission—to make the biggest box-office disaster ever, so he can show massive financial losses.
To execute the plan, they assemble a bizarre team that includes failed actor Rajeev (Akshay Kumar), gangsters Romeo (Arshad Warsi) and Yeda Anna (Suniel Shetty), along with several eccentric characters. The entire team heads to a remote village deep inside a jungle for the film's shoot. However, unexpected events soon throw everything into chaos. What strange situations do they face? Do they manage to complete the film? The answers unfold in the rest of the story.
Performances:
Akshay Kumar gets the central role and does his best to entertain throughout the film. Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, and the rest of the ensemble deliver decent performances and fit well into their respective roles.
What Works:
The film truly comes alive once the story reaches Azad Nagar. The interval block is packed with hilarious moments, with the confusion-driven comedy delivering plenty of laughs. The second half also features several entertaining comedy sequences that work well.
References to classic films and the Mahabharat television series add to the fun, while the pre-climax twist turns out to be an effective surprise.
What Doesn't Work:
The first half struggles to generate consistent laughs, with only a handful of scenes leaving an impact. Several jokes and dialogues fail to land as intended. Parts of the second half also feel stretched. The climax action sequence lacks excitement, and the weak CGI further reduces its overall impact.
Welcome to the Jungle Review and Verdict:
Ahmed Khan's Welcome To The Jungle is a brain-rot comedy that eventually lands with plenty of hilarious moments, even though it starts on shaky ground and struggles to find its rhythm in the first half, and has an underwhelming villain track.
