2022 Tollywood Recap

It still feels like Bangarraju movie was released yesterday, but we have now reached the end of 2022 with the movie 18 pages. In this year that passed in the blink of an eye, many films came out to try their luck. Some were pleasing, some failed to make the expected buzz. Let's see the progress report of the movies released in this year.

First, let's look at the big films. Films like RRR and KGF2 were blockbuster hits, star heroes films like Bheemla Nayak and Sarkaaru Vaari Paata became average. Films like Radhe Shyam, Acharya, etc. turned out to be disasters, while Godfather, The Ghost flopped.

F3, which came amid massive expectations as a sequel movie, failed to entertain as expected and ended up being above average. The biggest blow to the industry this year has to be the dismal result of Vijay Devarakonda and Puri Jagannath's Liger.

It must be said that the buzz of medium budget movies is a little less this year. Nani's Ante Sundaraniki movie was wonderful in terms of content, but failed to attract the audience to come to the theaters. While Bimbisara brought great strength to the Telugu film industry, which was in a slump, Sitaramam added more joy to the momentum. At the beginning of the year, Bangarraju gave a positive start to the industry with a wonderful success.

But the number of flops is also high in medium budget movies this year. Films like Khiladi, Aadallu Meeku Joharlu, Ghani, Pakka Commercial, The Warrior, Thank You, Rama Rao On Duty, Macherla NiyojakaVargam have all flopped at the box office. But the movie Dhamaka, which opened with a mixed response on the first day, stood strong at the box office and bid a grand farewell to this year with a resounding shot at the end of the year.

This year, limited budget films have too achieved outstanding success. The journey of hits that initiated with DJ Tillu continued with Major, Hit 2 and went to the pan India range with Karthikeya 2. Even in small films, there were flops like Son of India, Virata Parvam, Sebastian, Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga. Also, films like Ashoka Vanam lo Arjuna Kalyanam and Sammatame fared as average while Masooda turned into a surprise hit.

This year, the collision of dubbing movies for Telugu cinema is also good. Films like KGF2, Vikram, Sardaar, Kantara developed into super-duper hits. Films like Brahmastra, Ponniyin Selvan, Vikrant Rona too had a a positive impact. But films like Bhediya and Banaras went away without knowing when they came.

All in all, Tollywood, like always, has given a mixture of films like the taste of our own Ugadi Pachdi. We wish to see more sweetness in the next year as well.
