Story:

Shiva (Santosh Sobhan) is an interior designer from Nellore who moves to Chennai to build a successful career. As he struggles to establish himself, he takes up bike pooling to manage his expenses. During this phase, he falls in love with Mithra (Manasa Varanasi), and the two begin living together.

While Shiva slowly finds stability in his career, Mithra continues to face setbacks in securing a proper job in the IT sector. Things become more complicated when their relationship is exposed to their parents. The rest of the story follows how the couple deals with family pressure, personal conflicts, and the challenges that test their love.

Performances:

Santosh Sobhan delivers a natural and sincere performance, though he appears slightly ordinary in a few scenes. Manasa Varanasi looks charming and performs well, effectively portraying the emotional shifts in her character. The chemistry between the lead pair feels genuine and pleasant. Yogi Babu, Rajeev Kanakala, Goparaju Ramana, and the supporting cast perform adequately in their respective roles.

What Works:

Directed by Ashwin Chandrasekhar, Couple Friendly begins as a simple romantic drama with appealing visuals and relatable characters. The struggles faced by the lead pair in the first half are presented convincingly, and the gradual development of their romance is handled neatly. A few emotional moments and dialogues in the second half leave an impact, even if they are not very strong.

What Doesn’t Work:

The film introduces a major twist in the second half that drastically changes its tone. However, it does not feel organic or emotionally convincing. The ego clashes between the couple before the interval seem forced, and the family drama leans toward melodrama.

Because the twist fails to create a strong emotional connection, the hero’s pain does not fully resonate, and audiences also struggle to sympathize with the heroine’s situation. Although the film attempts to deliver a powerful emotional climax, the weak handling of the post-twist scenes reduces its impact. The music is decent but lacks the strength to elevate the mood or intensity of the film.

Couple Friendly Review And Verdict:

Ashwin Chandrasekar's Couple Friendly features an interesting storyline and a well-made first half filled with engaging moments. But things go downhill for the film post-intermission, as it struggles to pull the emotions and ends up crashing hard.
