Story:

Arun (Manikandan) and Divya (Gauri Priya) have been in love for six years. They have been in love since their college days. But there are frequent quarrels, separations, and reunions between the two of them. Divya works in a company. Arun is trying to start a cafe business. But some of Divya's friends do not like Arun. But Divya roams with them. As they lie and go out with their friends without telling Arun, the quarrels between them become more and more. The rest of the film is about whether or not this couple overcomes the hurdles.

Performances:

Manikandan and Gouri Priya gave excellent performances. They looked good as a pair and conveyed their characters' various emotions; the rest of the actors were impressed with their roles.

What worked for the film:

The film's main point is that displaying the issues in a relationship is good, and some scenes in the movie work well to give the message proper weight. Both the lead actors have done well and elevated their characters. The first half of the film has engaging main episodes. The moments around the pre-climax and climax were suitable for the film. The Climax was handled very well. The music was also ideal for the film's narrative.

What did not work for the film:

The whole movie runs on the same point. Things that happen between two people in love, the boy's possessiveness and the girl's irritation, are more visible. In the movie, Divya is shown to be on the suffering side, but the pain on Arun's side is not adequately conveyed. From the beginning to the end of the film, there are repetitive scenes of the hero and heroine getting into quarrels. The intention is to show that there will be constant issues in love, but how specific incidents or scenes are repeated is not good. The boozing and smoking scenes have no limit as it is shown like a very normal thing. Arun's parents' track should have been handled much better.

Tru Lover Movie Review and Verdict:

True Lover is a genuine attempt to portray the complications involved in modern-day relationships, but in doing so, the film gets repetitive and stretched. It indeed has its moments that the youth can relate to. Lead actors Manikandan and Sri Gouri Priya gave their best, and their performances and music added more value to the movie.
