Rating: 2.5/5
Cast: Suhas, Payal Radhakrishna, Rashi Singh, Viva Harsha, Nitin Prasanna, Sai Swetha, Kushalini and others
Director: Arjun Y K
Produced By: Manikanta JS, Prasad Reddy TR
Release Date: 3rd May 2024

Story:

Surya works as a radio jockey. After a tragic accident claims the lives of his parents, he develops a condition that prevents him from recognizing faces. What unfolds when Surya becomes a witness to a murder? The film revolves around his journey to conquer his affliction, clear his name, and apprehend the true culprit. Alongside, the movie delves into a romantic subplot and its resolution.

Performances:

Suhas demonstrates his acting abilities by portraying a character that is meticulously crafted to complement his strengths, in which he excels. His talent truly shines in emotionally vulnerable moments. Payal Radhakrishna and Rashi Singh play the two female leads, each with significant roles. While Payal plays the protagonist's regular love interest, Rashi gets a different role, and she is impressed by her performance. Nithin Prasanna initially has a promising role, but unfortunately, it loses its impact as the story progresses. Nandu and Goparaju Ramana, on the other hand, are underutilized. As for Viva Harsha, he delivers his usual performance, which can be considered satisfactory at best.

What Worked For The Film:

Arjun YK helms the film "Prasanna Vadanam" as its director. This captivating blend of thriller and drama revolves around the main character, who must confront a unique obstacle, clear his name, and ultimately triumph. The initial segment of the movie holds immense significance as it establishes the foundation for the entire storyline. Although the narrative briefly explores a romantic subplot, the unexpected twist that unfolds around the midpoint creates anticipation for the second half. The commencement of the latter half sustains the audience's curiosity as Surya finds himself engulfed in compelling circumstances.

What Did Not Work For The Film:

Unfortunately, the following sections, after an exciting interval, do not possess the same level of intensity or excitement. Events unfold rapidly and with ease. The excitement fails to captivate, except for the hero's unique predicament. Once more, the face blindness element is cleverly utilized to add a twist towards the climax. While the twist is unexpected, the execution and resolution do not live up to the anticipation it creates. The story concludes with a prolonged and clichéd action sequence.

Prasanna Vadanam Review And Verdict:

Prasanna Vadanam has an exciting concept and a few twists that raise the anticipation, but the narration fails to maintain the same impact after a point. The proceedings in the latter half look convenient, and the climax could have been handled much better.
