Story:

Baskhar (Dulquar Salman) works as a cashier at Maghada Bank in Bombay. Due to his family's financial struggles, he is compelled to pursue unethical means to generate income. The central narrative of the film revolves around the consequences of Baskhar's misguided choices and the effects they have on both him and his family.

Performances:

Dulquer Salmaan did a fantastic job as Bhaskar. He showed the required variations of the effortlessly and made it immensely likable. Meenakshi Chaudhary got a good role and she performed very well. Tinu Anand, Rajkumaar Kasireddy, Sachin Khedekhar, Ramkee, Saikumar, Sarvadaman Banerjee, and others were apt.

What worked for the film:

Directed by Venky Atluri, Lucky Bashkar may not appear fresh overall; however, the captivating screenplay for most of the parts and intriguing storyline compensate for this by maintaining our interest in the progression of the events. The main lead's characterization is interesting and despite him taking the illegal path to become successful, one roots for him because of the drama around his actions. The first half has some flat moments but still manages to impress with the occasiaonal highs and the second half has more exciting and emotional tone which works well including the perfect climax. GV Prakash's music is too good as the songs and bacgkround score fit in the narrative. The dialogues of the film work well and add the required impact to the overall effect.

What did not work for the film:

Lucky Bashkar is based on the most popular rags-to-riches narrative and the predictability around it effects the flow of the film at times. One can guess the hero's motive in well advance . Also, the family scenes are used conveniently.

Lucky Baskhar Review and Verdict:

Lucky Bashkar is an enjoyable ride. Despite the plot and proceedings being not new, the film works because of the highs/twists that are delivered regularly. Dulquer Salmaan is just fantastic, while Meenakshi Chaudhary also did a good job. GV Prakash's music is perfect.
