Story:
Vishal plays Madha Gaja Raja, commonly referred to as MGR, a carefree man who falls for Madhavi, (Anjali). Unfortunately, their love story ends abruptly because of Raja's father. During a wedding later, Raja reconnects with his old friends from childhood and learns that they are all in serious problems because of a shady businessman named Kakarla Vishwanath (Sonu Sood). Raja takes the initiative to confront him and fix the problems he made. What follows next? What issues do Raja's friends face with Vishwanath? What happens to Raja's love story? Does Vishwanath try to harm Raja too? The remainder of the film holds the key to the answers.
Performances:
Vishal performs adequately, and that's pretty much everything about his character. Anjali and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar bring a sense of glamour to the movie. The comedy from Santhanam brings some comfort, with his sharp punchlines landing successfully. The other actors deliver average performances.
What worked for the film:
The film relies on the entertainment factor. Santhanam's character and his non-stop punches make the movie a time-pass one despite not having any novelty or engaging theme. In the second half, the way Vishal and Santhanam use the character of Manobala also provides some laughs. Also, the glamor dose from Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Anjali will attract mass audiences.
What did not work for the film:
The plot of the film is straightforward, yet it fails to captivate. The leisurely tempo adds to the overall monotony. This film, which is now 12 years old, presents an outdated narrative and shows technical inefficiencies as the visual feel and the editing parts do not work that well. Director Sundar C should have concentrated more on representing the friendship moments effectively, which could have added more emotional depth.
The character of Sonu Sood follows the mold of a traditional old-school villain, bringing nothing innovative. This film misses a solid conflict that would captivate viewers, and the scenes between the protagonist and antagonist lack effectiveness.

Madha Gaja Raja Review and Verdict:
Madha Gaja Raja is a mindless entertainer without logic. Since the film has finally been released after a 12-year wait, there's little to complain about in terms of the story or screenplay. Santhanam's one-liner punches provide laughs throughout the film. Manobala's episode at the pre-climax also works well.
