Story:
Shankara Vara Prasad (Chiranjeevi), a middle-class man who also works as a national security agent, falls in love with Sasirekha (Nayanthara), the daughter of one of India’s richest men. They get married and lead a happy life, but due to misunderstandings, their marriage ends in divorce after a few years.
Six years later, Prasad gets an opportunity to reconnect with his children. At the same time, he faces a dangerous gang that is trying to kill Sasirekha’s father. The rest of the film focuses on how Prasad protects the family from this threat and tries to win back his wife.
Performances:
Chiranjeevi, who made his comeback with Khaidi No. 150, shows his full potential in Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. He dominates the screen in almost every scene and balances comedy and emotion with ease. Nayanthara fits well in the role of Sasirekha and performs convincingly. Venkatesh appears in a cameo, and his presence leaves a good impact. Catherine Tresa, Abhinav Gomatam, Harshavardhan, Sachin Khedekar, Zarina Wahab, the child artists, and others do justice to their roles.
What Works:
Director Anil Ravipudi presents Megastar Chiranjeevi in an impressive and enjoyable manner. Chiranjeevi looks comfortable throughout and makes many scenes entertaining. The pre-interval portions and several second-half scenes involving Sachin Khedekar and Nayanthara bring out the best in him.
The first 20–30 minutes of the film are engaging, and the scenes involving the kids are handled well. The narrative picks up towards the interval. The second half also has many fun moments, including the ladies’ party sequence, the Meesala Pilla song, and Venkatesh’s cameo. Some emotional scenes work effectively, and all the songs composed by Bheems are pleasant.
What Didn’t Work:
While the kids’ scenes create a strong emotional impact in the first half, they are limited to just one major scene in the second half and do not get enough importance. Anil Ravipudi could have included more scenes involving Chiranjeevi, Nayanthara, and the kids. A few serious emotional moments between the lead pair would have added more depth.
The villain’s character feels routine and lacks intrigue. Additionally, some comedy scenes in both halves fail to land as expected.
Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu Review and Verdict:
Anil Ravipudi delivers a perfect entertainer with Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. Megastar Chiranjeevi impresses with his natural comic timing and effortless acting, and he carries the film on his shoulders. The movie has plenty of fun moments, and although it slows down a bit in the second half, it ends with a neat and satisfying climax.
