Story:

Aghathiyaa (Jiiva) is a budding art director. On the first day of filming, the heroine runs away with someone, halting the movie's progress. Aghathiyaa invested 30 lakhs to transform a Pondicherry palace into a haunted house for the film. Veena, (Raashi Khanna) his childhood friend and lover, advises him to turn the set into a haunted house to get the money back. It quickly gains popularity, but soon ghosts from the 1940s appear in the mansion. Aghathiyaa investigates 1940s footage and clues that shed light on Siddha doctor Siddhartha (Arjun Sarja), known for curing cancer with Indian herbs and his connection to the French colony.

What worked for the film:

The flashback's early sequences are intriguing. Certain mother sentiment moments resonate simply, without in-depth effect.

What did not get for the film:

The director overloads the film with elements like reincarnation and patriotism, wasting money on extravagant sets and cheap visuals. This film focuses on revealing Siddha medicine's ability to cure cancer. However, except for verbal communication, the movie doesn't effectively showcase Siddha Medicine and its background/effect. The film struggles with ideological confusion and genre clarity. The film opens in horror, develops into a historical drama, and wraps up with a silly fantasy showdown.

Aghathiyaa Review and Verdict:

In Aghathiyaa Director Pa Vijay tried to blend horror, fantasy elements with historical drama. Even though the intention was good, it just doesn't hit the mark because of weak writing and a lackluster vibe throughout, especially with an unintentionally hilarious climax.
