Story:

The story centers on a harsh basketball coach who, while training a team of players with disabilities, gains wisdom from their perspectives.

Performances:

Aamir Khan gives a proper impact and while there is nothing bad with his acting, there is nothing solid either. Genelia D’Souza is fine, while Dolly Ahluwalia, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Aayush Bhansali and all the newcomers who acted as Neurodivergent people are superb.

What worked for the Film:

Sitaare Zameen Par is based on the Spanish film Champions (2018) and is a spiritual follow-up to Taare Zameen Par (2007). The 2007 film depicts a teacher aiding a child in his passion for art, while Sitaare illustrates a coach's personal growth through mentoring Neurodivergent players.

R Prasanna's goal is commendable, and he effectively brings out humorous interactions between the coach and players. The second half flows better than the first. A few emotional exchanges between the coach and players also come well.

What did not work for the Film:

Though familiar, the plot of the film is interesting. The film lacks the expected poignant impact in many areas. We don't relate to Gulshan's journey with the players and his marital problems. The conflicts he encounters are fine, but the storytelling is too simplistic. The climax kicks off nicely, but soon feels too sentimental.

Sitaare Zameen Par Review and Verdict:

R Prasanna's Sitaare Zameen Par is a decent sports drama. While the movie has no significant drama or conflict, its heart and humor make it enjoyable. Aamir is fine, and the newcomers who played neurodivergent roles did a fantastic job.
