Story:
Set against the backdrop of Goa in 1960, Toxic revolves around the drug mafia and the world of Raya, a powerful gangster and the women who play important roles in his life. The film blends gangster drama with romance, family emotions, betrayal and conflict.
Performances:
Yash is easily the biggest strength of Toxic. He owns the screen with terrific swagger, intensity and commanding screen presence. He carries himself with confidence and manages to make several scenes work purely through his performance.
Unfortunately, the female characters are not given equally strong writing. Nayanthara has a strong presence but her underwritten character limits her impact. Kiara Advani delivers a sincere performance and makes a decent impression despite having limited scope. Tara Sutaria is largely used for glamour, while Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi have limited screen time. The supporting cast also fails to leave a lasting impression.

There is a lot happening throughout the film: romance, betrayal, family sentiment, gangster rivalries and power struggles, but very little of it manages to create a lasting impact. Toxic tries to be an ambitious gangster drama packed with twists, but its overcomplicated narrative and weak emotional connect make the film feel messy and tiresome for most of its runtime.
The music and background score by KGF-fame Ravi Basrur are also inconsistent and do not always elevate the scenes as expected.
