Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay completed 30 years in the Film Industry today, here's a small take on his journey from our side.
Vijay came into the Industry with his father's help, who predominantly worked as director and writer. But in a less span of time, he got good name. A famous Tamil magazine mentioned Vijay as ugly and unfit to act in 1993, the same magazine praised his looks few years later, initially criticized for the movies his early breakthrough is Vikraman directed Poove Unnakkaga which banged the box office in 1996, coming Vijay's initial blockbuster & successful film. This film gave Vijay – the title ' ILAYA THALAPATHY '.
Kaadhalukku Mariyathai is the blockbuster of 1997, coming Vijay's second blockbuster. This picture is a remake of Fazils own malayalam flick. After this film, Vijay got constant hits like Love Today, Once More and Ninaithen Vandhai.
After Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Vijay's 4 consecutive movies tanked at BO (Enrenrum Kadhal, Nenjiline, Minsara Kanna & Kannukul Nilavu). Then came Kushi which became a blockbuster of 2000. After that, Vijay had a dream run with continuous successes.
After the completion of his dream series, Vijay suffered flops of Pudhiya Geethai and Udhaya, then Vijay acted in Thirumalai, his first Mass Movie. As expected, it was a good move by Vijay and was a blockbuster which cemented his position at the mass hero.
Then came Ghilli, the massive turnaround in Vijay's career. It was the tremendous hit of TN, even on par with films of Superstar Rajinikanth
After attaining the super stardom, post Ghilli vijay films became formulaic and they questioned his choice of selection due to which many films tanked at BO and this is the period where he has seen the biggest slump in his career.
At one point he was even issued a red card at BO by Tamil distributors for his continuous embarrassments at BO.
In 2012, the game changer Thuppakki arrived in style, the action thriller touted to be one of the best in his race, leap flogged his position at BO as most bankable star.
Then, followed by Kaththi, shown the potential of 'Actor' vijay in the role of Jeevanandham which won him outstanding accolades across the nation.
His collaboration with Murugadoss and Atlee made him to reach the undisputed superstar status and brought him glorious craze.
Apart from acting, Vijay is a talented singer too where he crooned his voice for multiple chartbusters in films like Thuppakki, Bigil, Master and the latest Varisu.
Often pulled into controversies because of the political views and ambitions, Vijay went through a lot as an actor and person, which made up to him what he is today.
Vijay further set up dubbing his pictures in Telugu from Thuppakki, though initially his films didn't get much reach, he found getting success in Telugu further with Adirindhi(Mersal),Bigil (whistle), Sarkar and Master (Vijay's biggest hit in Telugu).
Today with Varisu, which is titled in Telugu as "Vaarasudu"he's aiming to score big with releasing the movie for Sankranthi/Pongal_2023. The film is produced by one of the leading producers of Telugu Film Industry Dil Raju and the director of the film Vamsy Paidipally is also from Telugu.
From the most trolled actor to the most bankable superstar, Vijay has improved leaps and bounds in career, wishing Vijay more successes in his career from now on. As always, “Kill them with your success', Bury them with your smile”.
