Story:

Bad Newz is an unconventional comedy that delves into the concept of heteropaternal superfecundation. Saloni Bagga, portrayed by Triptii Dimri, finds herself pregnant with twins, with Akhil Chadha (played by Vicky Kaushal) and Gurbeer Pannu (portrayed by Ammy Virk) revealed as the fathers. This revelation sparks a chaotic rivalry between Akhil and Gurbeer as they vie for Saloni's affection and custody of their children, leading to a series of exciting events.

Performances:

In Bad Newz, Vicky Kaushal's interpretation of Akhil Chadda skillfully portrays the evolution from a self-absorbed and slightly annoying character to a fully developed individual. The redemption narrative strikes a chord with viewers. Kaushal's dominant performance outshines the ensemble, creating the impression that the film was tailored exclusively for him. Triptii Dimri's latest work marks her debut in the comedy genre, showcasing her comedic talent. While her previous roles portrayed her in a more serious light, her latest performance highlights her humorous and lively side, adding to the audience's enjoyment. Ammy Virk was decent, while the rest of the actors were alright.

What worked for the film:

The fresh on-screen pairing of Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri significantly enhances the movie. Moreover, the cinematography is outstanding. The limited number of songs in the film also plays a role in maintaining the narrative's momentum. The humorous interactions between Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk provide a brief respite in the second half. Anand Tiwari, the director of the film, puts in a praiseworthy effort to ensure the movie is captivating and relatable.

What did not work for the film:

The latter part of the film exhibits some inconsistency and a few unnecessary and dull segments that detract from the emotional resonance. Additionally, the director missed an opportunity to delve into the female lead's medical condition and a pivotal decision concerning the children's future.

Bad Newz Review and Verdict:

Bad Newz is an engaging ride with a finely constructed narrative. The humorous chaos adds to the drama, making the experience more enjoyable. The core emotion gets the impact towards the climax, but it should have been more effective overall. Vicky Kaushal did a fantastic job along with Tripti Dimri, who displayed a precise act.
