Story:
The tale of Veera Dheera Soora takes place at night in Medicharla village during the jathara. SP Arunagiri aims to confront Ravi and his son Kannan out of frustration. Ravi, aware of SP's plan, seeks Kaali's help to rescue his son. Who is Kaali? What’s his past like, and how does he help out Ravi? The narrative unfolds around these characters' actions at night.
Performances:
Vikram shows great ease in his performance. He presents a mix of drama, action, and lightheartedness, revealing his range as an actor. Dushara Vijayan portrays the wife role. She secures decent shots and leaves her mark in significant moments. SJ Suryah impresses in a subtle bad guy part. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Prudhvi Raj make a great father-son team, with Suraj hitting the mark and Prudhvi stepping up big time in a serious character.
What worked for the film:
S U Arun Kumar, known for Chithha, directs Veera Dheera Soora (Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 in Tamil). A dramatic action story in a rural setting. An overnight narrative adds a special twist to the straightforward plot. There are enough high moments within the subtle/realistic portrayal.
The sequence of Vikram and SJ Suryah's first meeting is impressive. What follows is an intriguing hint about the backstory and the director surprises with selecting a rather simple/quirky scene for the interval. The flashback validates the excitement, and the entire episode revolving around Dilip's character culminates in a thrilling action scene. Although the climax lingers, the ending proves effective.
What did not work for the film:
Occasionally, the film's tone feels uneven. The opening is shaky, with some sluggish moments later. The climax fight feels too long. Because of the backstory not getting revealed entirely, one may not connect with the emotions of the lead character.
Veera Dheera Soora Review and Verdict:
Arun Kumar delivers a stylish and intense action drama with Veera Dheera Soora. Both the performances and technical elements shine. The narrative lags at times, and the climax feels prolonged, yet it finishes on a positive note.
