Rating: 2.5/5
Story:
Ranjan (Rajkummar Rao) and Titli (Wamiqa Gabbi) are both hopeless romantics eager to marry. They try everything to make it happen, but Ranjan ends up trapped in a time loop. He repeatedly wakes up on the same day—the day before his wedding.
Performances:
Rajkummar Rao once again appears in a small-town guy role, and he elevates a few sequences in the film with his comedic timing. Wamiqa Gabbi is good and makes the innocence in her character work. Seema Pahwa, Raghubir Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, and Zakir Hussain are apt.
What worked for the film:
The main point of the film, Bhool Chuk Maaf, is interesting. The pre-interval and post-interval sequences work superbly and provide good laughs. The climax of the film also works, though not great.
What did not work for the film:
The problem with Bhool Chuk Maaf is that the director, Karan Sharma, though he has a fascinating point, gets stuck in a loop of scenes while trying to produce numerous hilarious sequences. The audiences do not get much connected with the hero's chaotic situation because most of the scenes after the time loop appear repetitive and ineffective. Also, the way he realizes his mistake and tries to rectify it could have been depicted more effectively. The parents' characters could have been given more weight, considering the film's setting, but it does not happen, which affects the film's overall impact.
Bhool Chuk Maaf Review and Verdict:
Karan Sharma's Bhool Chuk Maaf is a time-loop comedy that gets trapped in its own web of repetitiveness. The film features funny moments before and after the interval, and it also has a good social message at the end, but it fails to explore its intriguing plot fully.
