Story:

Shuddhi Ayodhya, a confident woman, falls for an NRI boy visiting Ooty with his family, but they eventually break up because of unexpected events. Shuddhi progresses in life and falls for Sanjay, a poet from Telugu. Did Shuddhi and Sanjay end up happy together? What is Sanjay's background? How is Sanjay's past related to Shuddhi? The answers to the above-mentioned questions finish the narrative.

Performances:

Ananthika Sanilkumar excels as Shuddhi Ayodhya, delivering a dignified performance despite characterization flaws. Hanu Reddy performs with energy and sincerity. Ravitheja Duggirala does well, but his style and screen vibe strike as odd.

What worked for the Film:

The lead pair's chemistry, convincing performances, pleasant music, visuals, and a few impactful dialogues enhance the film, especially the well-crafted interval scene. The Kasi Fight Sequence is good, though not as effective as it should have been.

What did not work for the Film:

8 Vasntalu struggles with inconsistent character development for the lead actress and her mother. The lead actress portrayed a confident, organized, and fiercely independent woman in the first half.

She advises her first boyfriend to assert himself and express his feelings during the breakup. But in the second half, she fails to defend herself and her love, quickly agreeing to her mother's wish.

The mother character strongly supports her daughter and her choices in the first half. However, in the latter part, she portrays a common Indian mother seeking a rich match for her daughter. The inconsistency of the two main characters hurts the film.

The second love track appears shallow and misses the emotional mark. When the heroine sacrifices her love, the required pain and emotions go completely missing. Moreover, the way the backstory of the second lead is shown with continuous voice - over kind narration in the climax derails the intention of the director.

Some dialogues shine in the film, but for most of the part they overdo the poetic tone and detract from key scenes.

8 Vasantalu Review and Verdict:

Phanindra Narsetti attempts to make 8 Vasantalu as a heartfelt journey of a woman. The first half is fair, and some emotional moments shine, including the interval. But the second half lacks impact because of poor execution and no emotional depth.
