Story:

Directed by Hitesh Kewalya, Shashank Khaitan, Ishita Moitra, and Neeraj Udhwani, this six-part series follows Gaurav Gehlot (Kunal Kemmu), a divorced “man-child” who unexpectedly finds a baby in his car. Against the advice of everyone around him, including his family and adoption agencies, he decides to adopt the child and become a single father. The series shows his journey through chaotic parenthood and how his personality changes as he accepts his new responsibility.

Performances:

Kunal Kemmu carries the show almost single-handedly, and it truly feels like his series. He performs with great ease and completely owns the character. Ayesha Raza and Manoj Pahwa are wonderful as his parents. Prajakta Koli leaves a good impression, while Neha Dhupia is effective in her role. Dayanand Shetty, playing against his usual image as Manny, the male nanny, adds a quirky and memorable touch to the show.

What Works:

The series has a fun and feel-good vibe, although the sets and production design sometimes feel a bit artificial and overly polished. The innocence of the lead character, GG, makes many scenes engaging. His acceptance of his flaws and his determination to adopt a child as a single father are entertaining to watch. The show also includes emotional moments, especially in the climax, which work well.

What Doesn't:

On the downside, Single Papa struggles to fully explore its emotional core. The issues within the Gehlot family, the misunderstanding between GG’s parents, and the conflict during their daughter’s wedding have potential but are either rushed or resolved too easily. The adoption agent’s decision also feels convenient.

Single Papa Review and Verdict:

Overall, Single Papa is an entertaining and heartwarming web series centered on male parenting. While some parts feel rushed or convenient, the show remains engaging thanks to Kunal Kemmu’s strong performance and its emotional and feel-good moments.
