Director: Krishna Chaitanya
Produced By: Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, Sai Soujanya

Story:

Ratna (Vishwak Sen) is a local gangster who aims to become large through any means necessary. He rises to the top by using the local politicians. Ratna comes under the scrutiny of Doraswami Raju (Goparaju Ramana) and Nanaji (Nasser). After getting married to Bujji (Neha Shetty), Ratna's past mistakes start coming back to haunt him. In what way did Ratna survive and save his family? What happens to Ratna? The rest of the film provides answers to these questions.

Performances:

Vishwak Sen performed well, and he tried to own the character. However, his characterization does not have much impact. Anjali and Neha Shetty were okay. Goparaju Ramana was a miscast. Though he gave a natural performance, the character lacked the required impact. Nasser, Aadi, Pemmi Sai, and others were fine.

What Worked For The Film:

As said above, though the writing falters, Vishwak Sen delivers a good performance and makes some portions of the film engaging. The initial moments in the first half provide intrigue. Two action sequences were superb. Yuvan Shankar Raja's background score was also good.

What Did Not Work For The Film:

Gangs of Godavari has creates good impression at the beginning. Although the plot setup and character establishment are successful in the first half, the narrative goes haywire in the second half. There are many artificial moments. For example, the conspiracy to kill Ratnam and after events do not create any impact. Even the emotional aspect goes without having much impact, as the track of Ratnam - Bujji appears weak. The pre-climax and climax offer a few turns and twists, but even those scenes could have had more effect.

Gangs of Godavari Review And Verdict:

Gangs of Godavari could have been an intense rural drama. Despite having an exciting plot, good visuals, and a few good fights, the film leaves a lot to be desired due to weak narration, lifeless characters and ineffective drama. Vishwaksen's efforts went in vain.
