Story:
Vasudev (Sarath Kumar) is a man from a middle-class background who aspires to own a house. He resides with his wife, Shanti (Devayani), son, Prabhu (Siddharth), and daughter, Aarthi (Meetha Raghunath). Facing financial difficulties, Vasu cannot make his dream come true. He relies on his son, hoping that Prabhu can accomplish what he could not through a good education and career. The realization of that dream and the development of Aarthi’s life drive the remainder of the story.
Performances:
Sarathkumar excels in the role of a dedicated father. His composed and steady portrayal effectively conveys the emotional aspects of the narrative. Siddharth also delivers a heartfelt performance. His transformation and dedication to the role stand out. Meetha Raghunath and Chaithra J. Achar perform well, and Devayani also leaves an impression. Yogi Babu's brief appearance is very funny.
What worked for the film:
The movie explores a theme that resonates with many families, particularly men facing challenges in their careers or lives. The aspiration to own a home and the emotional significance tied to that goal is something that many middle-class families go through, and the film consistently emphasizes this feeling.
The emotional message is evident, and the film remains grounded in reality while incorporating some cinematic highs. Key moments between the father and son are memorable, as are the family scenes where they confront obstacles in pursuing their dreams. The subtle rewards, like the Ice Cream track in Siddharth's love story and the dinner scene reference for Sharathkumar's character, are noteworthy.
What did not work for the film:
In certain areas, the movie 3BHK suffers from predictability. One can easily predict every issue or obstacle that stands in the path of the family's desire. The flow is somewhat broken by a few scenes that continue to go on after the effect is finished. Additionally, it becomes monotonous to watch the family struggle repeatedly, even though it is a normal part of their path.
3BHK Review and Verdict:
In 3BHK, director Sri Ganesh dives into the emotional journey of a family wanting to find their dream home. The main poignant points are obvious, but it definitely delivers heartwarming parts that work.
