Story:
Kamsa Raju (portrayed by Devdatta Nage) is a tyrannical monarch who instills fear in the hearts of the people of his village. During a visit to Kashi, a sage devoted to Lord Shiva warns him that the third child of his sister will become the reason for his death. At the same time, Kamsa Raju is arrested for murder and his sister gives birth to a daughter named Satya (Manasa Varanasi). After a few years, Krishna (Ashok Galla) meets Satya at a wedding and falls deeply in love with her. After serving a 21-year prison sentence, Kamsa Raju is finally released. What led to Kamsa Raju's lengthy imprisonment? What actions did Kamsa Raju take against his sister's daughter? What efforts did Krishna make to win Satya's love? Does Krishna have the courage to stand against the menacing Kamsa Raju? Answers to these questions are provided by the rest of the story.
Performances:
Ashok Galla was decent but one gets a feeling that he is not a perfect fit for action-oriented characters. Manasa Varanasi looked good and was okay in emotional scenes. Devdatta Nage is suited to the evil villain role but there is nothing much to talk about his character or performance. Jhansi gave a commendable performance as the hero's mother while Shatru, Devayani, and others were alright.
What worked for the film:
With a hint of mythology, the movie features a few decent emotional moments. The initial moments that connect the Lord Krishna's avatar with the village raise expectations. The crucial and stunning twist before the interval is unexpected and provides the required excitement. A few emotional scenes in the second half work well and the taking of action sequences is also good.
What did not work for the film:
Though the film has a good plot, it needed a perfect and engaging screenplay to enthrall audiences. Sadly, the director Arjun Jandhyala fails to provide a satisfying experience because of his predictable and overdramatic taking. The love track between Krishna and Satya is poorly handled and the villainy of Kamsa Raju is also shown in the most routine way. The hero's character appears interesting in the initial stage but after that, it follows the template route, adding to the disappointment. The game between Kamsa Raju and Krishna in the second half is not dealt with properly and the climax appears suddenly as well.
Devaki Nandana Vasudeva Review and Verdict:
Devaki Nandana Vasudeva is an inadequately crafted action drama that fails to make a positive impression. The narrative is unfocused, and the film fails to capture the audience's interest. The attempt to mix divine elements with a revenge element might have looked interesting on paper, but the director failed to set it up excitingly.
