Story:

Senior officer Hari is back on the job, but he’s got a case that digs up some painful memories. Is this just another probe or a ghost from his past?

Performances;

Kunchacko Boban nails the role of a cop dealing with trauma and his personal battles that take center stage in the movie. Vishakh Nair and his gang bring an unsettling energy, personifying the merciless beasts that sustain the film's horrifying landscape. Priyanmani and Jagadeesh make their mark.

What worked for the Film:

Jithu Ashraf, the director, goes for an intriguing plot. What kicks off as a simple theft case soon spirals into a twisted web of drug dealing, sex crimes, and harsh exploitation. Shahi Kabir, known for Nayattu, wrote the screenplay, making the film full of tension, action, and a real chilling vibe till the midpoint.

The action sequences hit hard, even if they feel exaggerated because the bad guys and gals are shown in a way that leaves us with nothing but disdain for them. Kunchacko Boban pulls off something awesome at the end, and it feels great. Roby Varghese Raj’s cinematography really brings out the dark side of the underworld with its intense visuals, while Jakes Bejoy’s score adds a chilling atmosphere.

What did not work for the film:

The film Officer on Duty deals with the standard clichés of drug-addicted antagonists and has a few drawn-out scenes in the second half. During key events, the behavior of the villains comes off as quite ridiculous. The flashback episode doesn't surprise one as much as its buildup. Also, the reason for revenge is unconvincing. Plus, the awful crimes like assault and abuse targeting women and children totally set the tone for this narrative, which is super unsettling.

Officer On Duty Review and Verdict:

The plot of Officer On Duty is interesting, and the narration is racy until a point. However, the latter half drags for a while, and the flashback doesn't flow well. Villain characters required more effective handling. But, the film's climax delivers, finishing on a positive note.
