Rating: 3/5
Story:
Like the first two movies in the HIT series, the third film also follows a crime investigation. Arjun Sarkaar (Nani), a fierce and determined police officer in the Homicide Intervention Team in Jammu & Kashmir, begins looking into a brutal murder case with his team. As they investigate, they discover several murders with similar patterns happening nationwide. Who is responsible for these killings? What drives the murderers to take innocent lives across the country? The story unfolds as Arjun Sarkaar and his team work to solve the case and catch the criminals.
Nani does a superb job as Arjun Sarkaar. He carries the entire film on his shoulders and brings the intensity in required scenes. Srinidhi Shetty is fine as the female lead, while Prateik Babbar fails to impress as the antagonist because of the weak characterization. Rao Ramesh, Samuthirakani, and Komali Prasad make their presence felt while others are okay.
What worked for the film:
Sailesh Kolanu writes and directs HIT 3. The film follows the similar storyline/pattern from the previous films in this franchise, but this time, it enters into the hero elevation format. The film is more about how the powerful police officer solved a big crime case rather than a proper crime investigative thriller with a big reveal at the end. The establishment of Arjun Sarkaar's character is done well in the first half, and there are a few handful moments in the first half that elevate him. The interval chase sets a perfect stage for the second half, and the nonstop/violent action sequences work superbly in the second half with some standout/elevation moments for Arjun Sarkaar along with the climax.
What did not work for the film:
The film has some dull/ordinary parts in the first half along with some boring moments in the mid-second half before Arjun Sarkaar takes charge. The villain character and his setup/establishment are not that great. The CTK Gang and its ways of dealing with its members or common people could have been explored more properly. The love track appears as a hindrance in the storytelling, though it is short-lived.
HIT 3 Review and Verdict:
Sailesh Kolanu aims to make HIT 3 a gripping and violent thriller. While it had its boring sections, the film also delivered high-energy scenes. The latter part delivers exciting cinematic highs, notably in the pre-climax and climax.
