Story:

Vyas teaches at the school where his wife, Bhagyalakshmi, is the principal. Their son Ram has trouble with his grades and dislikes memorization. Vyas's creative teaching style impresses both his son and a few other students, resulting in significant improvement. However, his marriage starts to struggle, and unexpectedly, his future becomes uncertain, forcing him to confront a difficult journey ahead.

Performances:

Sumanth is believable in the character of Vyas, and he gives a sincere and controlled performance that enhances the story. Kajal Chaudhary leaves a fair impression despite her role being limited. Young actor Viharsh Yadavalli stands out, and Rakesh Rachakonda effectively portrays his character. Anu Haasan shines in a short but memorable cameo. However, Srinivas Avasarala gets wasted in a not-so-effective role, while BVS Ravi, Kaumudi Nemuni, and Shiva Kandukuri lack enough screen time to make a significant impact.

What worked for the film:

The film is based on the concept that “stories are like lullabies from a mother, strength from a father, joy from a friend, and knowledge from a teacher. In short, they introduce you to the world.”  Anaganaga could have been a typical story about a teacher trying to change the education system, but debut director Sunny Sanjay intertwined it with a touching father-son drama that adds emotional depth and keeps the audience interested. The director explores his themes using some creative freedom and focuses more on familiar emotional elements rather than intricate details about the protagonist's goal. As said above, the emotional bond of father-son came out well, and a few crucial parts between the husband and wife also came good. The climax also has a good impact.

What did not work for the film:

Like many education system-based films, Anaganaga shows that one knowledgeable character can spark change and improve society. The setup and a few argument/discussion scenes about the education and teaching system seem predictable. While Vyas, the film's main character, has honest and intriguing ideas that could change a child's perspective, the film fails to convincingly demonstrate how these ideas can lead to real change. At least, there should have been one or two crucial/elaborated scenes that show the link between the hero's stories and school subjects.

Anaganaga Review and Verdict:

Despite its flaws, Anaganaga offers a heartfelt experience. The director, Sunny Sanjay, presents a meaningful story, complemented by sincere treatment. Sumanth and Master Viharsh give natural performances, while others also fit in well.
