Story:

The film tells the story of Siddhartha (Nandu), a carefree young man whose life takes a drastic turn after he is cheated out of ₹3 crore by his business partner, Mansoor, and his girlfriend Trisha. Left with no money and unable to pay his bills, Siddhartha ends up living on the streets in a rundown locality. During this phase, he meets Sharvya (Yamini Bhaskar), who has recently moved into the apartment below his. She is a talented dancer who escapes a toxic marriage while raising her young son. As their lives cross paths, Siddhartha’s journey takes several unexpected turns, forming the rest of the story.

Performances:

Nandu delivers a decent performance in the lead role and makes an impact in a few key scenes. Yamini Bhaskar looks natural and gives an effective performance. Simha and the supporting cast suit their roles well.

What Works:

The film has a fresh visual style, and some light-hearted moments work nicely. The second half features a few well-written scenes between the lead pair, which turn out to be the best moments of the film.

What Doesn't:

The biggest drawback of Psych Siddhartha is the lack of a strong emotional connection. The audience fails to truly feel Siddhartha’s pain or struggles, as many of his problems are handled unrealistically and confusingly. The character of Shrarvya’s husband is another weak point, with his scenes and dialogues becoming irritating due to excessive and unnecessary vulgarity. This makes it difficult to connect with the characters. At times, the film pushes absurdity too far.

Psych Siddhartha Review and Verdict:

Overall, Psych Siddhartha attempts to present a fresh narrative style and a unique approach to storytelling. The performances by Nandu and Yamini Bhaskar, along with a few intense moments, work in its favor. However, silly execution in several scenes and weak emotional depth make the film engaging only in parts.
