Story:

Afshan (Triptii Dimri) approaches Ustara (Shahid Kapoor), a quirky and ruthless gangster who works unofficially for Khan (Nana Patekar). Ustara is known for carrying out brutal murders without hesitation. Afshan offers him a contract to kill four people, one of them being Jalal (Avinash Tiwary), a feared gangster with links to terrorists.

At first, Ustara rejects her offer. However, after seeing Afshan’s intense desire for revenge, he decides to help her. In the process, he unexpectedly falls deeply in love with her. The rest of the film revolves around how Ustara’s emotional attachment to Afshan changes their lives and whether Afshan succeeds in taking her revenge.

Performances:

Shahid Kapoor delivers a sincere performance and does his best to hold the film together. However, his character lacks clarity and depth, which limits his impact. With better writing, he could have delivered something far more powerful.

Triptii Dimri gives a natural and graceful performance. Her chemistry with Shahid looks good on screen and adds some emotional weight to the story.

Avinash Tiwary plays the main antagonist, but his character is mostly used for buildup and fails to create a strong impact. Tamannaah Bhatia plays an important role, yet her character is poorly utilized and becomes forgettable. Disha Patani appears only in a couple of songs. Nana Patekar has a good amount of screen time but delivers only a few effective dialogues.

What Works:

The film begins on an engaging note. Ustara’s introduction scene, featuring a major fight sequence, is intriguing. Afshan’s backstory is brief but effectively sets up the plot.

The latter part of the second half works better, offering a good twist and some well-executed action sequences. The songs in the first half are also appealing.

What Doesn’t Work:

O' Romeo suffers from an overlong and confusing screenplay. Although it starts off well, the narrative soon becomes slow and uneven, with only occasional strong moments. The songs in the second half add to the dragged feel.

The biggest drawback is the weak character writing. Ustara is initially shown as a man who casually sleeps with multiple women and does not believe in love or emotions. But after meeting Afshan, he suddenly falls madly in love, risks everything for her, and is even ready to die. This transformation feels rushed and unconvincing, making it difficult for the audience to emotionally connect with the characters.

Similarly, Jalal receives strong buildup as a dangerous villain, but apart from killing people mercilessly, something common for many recent villains and he is never shown as truly powerful or threatening.

O' Romeo Review And Verdict:

O' Romeo has an interesting premise and a few strong moments, but weak character development and an inconsistent screenplay prevent it from reaching its full potential.
