Story:
The story begins during the Kargil War, where Lieutenant Colonel Fateh Singh (Bobby Deol) is devastated by the loss of thousands of Indian soldiers. Determined to prevent such tragedies in the future, he proposes an ambitious covert mission called 'Alpha.' However, unforeseen circumstances force the government to shelve the project, leading to Fateh Singh's demotion.
Refusing to give up on his vision, Fateh Singh secretly continues working towards his mission. Along the way, Seetha (Alia Bhatt) becomes an integral part of his plan. What happens when Seetha takes forward Plan Alpha, and the challenges and twists she encounters, forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Alia Bhatt puts in a sincere effort to portray a fierce and determined spy. While she carries the role with confidence, the weak characterization prevents her from delivering a truly impactful performance.
Sharvari brings good energy to the screen and shines in a few key moments, but her role offers very little scope beyond that. Bobby Deol, despite having a character with immense potential, is let down by poor writing, making his presence largely ineffective. Anil Kapoor also leaves little impression due to his limited screen time and underdeveloped role.

What Works:
The opening 20–30 minutes effectively establish the film's premise and create decent intrigue. The visual effects are impressive for the most part, and a couple of action sequences are stylishly choreographed and executed. A handful of impactful dialogues also work well, adding weight to a few crucial scenes.

What Doesn't Work:
Despite an interesting premise, Alpha quickly falls into the familiar formula often seen in the YRF Spy Universe. Once Alia's character is introduced, the narrative becomes highly predictable, while the emotional foundation of the story never feels convincing.
The relationship between Alia and Sharvari's characters lacks depth and emotional connection. Similarly, the characters played by Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor are disappointingly underwritten, preventing them from making any lasting impact.
A major twist towards the climax completely misfires, failing to deliver the intensity or emotional payoff it aims for. Even the much-talked-about spy cameo, which was already teased in the trailer, is executed in an underwhelming manner. Adding to the disappointment, the songs fail to leave any impression.

Alpha Review And Verdict:
Alpha had all the ingredients to become an engaging spy action drama with a strong emotional core. However, inconsistent writing, weak character development, and a predictable screenplay prevent it from living up to its potential. Apart from a promising setup, impressive visuals, and a few well-executed action moments, the film offers very little that truly stands out, making it a largely disappointing addition to the YRF Spy Universe.
