Story:

Robinhood, as the title indicates, tells the tale of Ram (played by Nithin), an orphan who steals from the wealthy to help a struggling orphanage. He takes a job as a security guard for the daughter (Sreeleela) of a wealthy NRI in a village, where he encounters a major challenge. What is this problem? The way Robinhood confronts it to rescue the girl and the village makes up the rest of the story.

Performances:

Nithin is fine in the lead role and performs with ease in comedy scenes and action scenes as well. Sreeleela portrays a classic "beauty without brains" role in a commercial film. She looks stunning with great styling, particularly in the songs, but her character feels quite ordinary. Rajendra Prasad and Vennela Kishore try to create laughs whenever they get an opportunity, and they were successful in the first half. Devadutta Nage is okay as the main villain while Subhalekha Sudhakar, Mime Gopi and others are okay.

What worked for the film:

Venky Kudumula and Nithin tried to recreate their success from Bheeshma with Robinhood, but they stumble due to weak writing. The film's best parts come from Rajendra Prasad and Vennela Kishore. Their comedic interactions provide some laughs and relief for the audience in the first half. The interval episode raises some anticipation, though not great.

What did not work for the film:

The robberies which the hero does in the film fail to make an impact because they feel rushed, and the conflict between the police and the hero lacks strength. The subplot involving the heroine and village issues is too dated. The narrative takes a downturn when it shifts to the village setting. The backstory of the villagers is poorly developed and feels very cliché.

Hero's approach to dealing with the Villain should be new and exciting, but unfortunately, that's where it falls short. Especially, the climax where the Hero beats Villain without touching him, sounds interesting, but the output does not match the intention and becomes silly. If the Robinhood character and storyline were well-developed, the film could have been proper action entertainer.

Robinhood Review and Verdict:

Venky Kudumula's Robinhood doesn't win you over. Other than some laughs, the film doesn't captivate. The story is routine, and a weak latter half and absurd climax leave much to be desired. David Warner's cameo was wasted.
