Story:
In a peaceful town, people think a youngster has been possessed. A bunch of weird and funny things happen while villagers attempt to chase off the ghost.
Performances:
JP Thuminad plays one of the leads of the film, and he is also the director of the film. He gives a convincing performance as Ashok and shows the variations in expressions as per the requirement. Shaneel Gautham is too good as Ravanna, and he perfectly carries the role of a big brother/all-in-one to everyone. Sandhya Arakere is natural, while Prakash Thuminadu and Deepak Rai Panaje spread some good laughs. Pushparaj Bolar stands out as a weird/funny character, and others are all good. Raj B Shetty, one of the producers of the film, entertains in an extended cameo as Guruji.
What worked for the film:
The film kicks off with some silly fun, and having hilarious, charming actors makes it even better. Luckily, the movie does not just turn into a bunch of funny skits; the story picks up at the perfect moment. The scenes where villagers face a massive challenge as they try to banish a spirit from one of their men provide good humor.
The director pulls humor from all sorts of silly reactions and crazy scenarios. He throws in some observational humor, pointing out quirky characters that you might overlook if you do not pay attention.
In the final 20-30 minutes, JP Thuminad holds back from sticking to a specific genre, letting you go all out for the excitement. He takes a different route, skillfully navigating serious themes without letting us feel the heaviness, and delivers it as a message that is full of heart.
What did not work for the film:
The initial half an hour is a bit dull, which is because the film goes on to introduce all the characters and takes its time to establish the chaotic, fun nature of the village and its people. Also, there are some repetitive moments in the initial phase of the second half.
Su From So Review and Verdict:
JP Thuminad, both the director and actor, brings us a comedy with Su From So that feels real and also tackles social issues. The flick has a slow start, but after a key moment, it definitely keeps you engaged. It has a rare sense of humor, and it ends on a heartfelt note.
