Story:
The story is set in the 1990s. Satya Dada (played by Prakash Raj) owns a port in Mumbai. A powerful man named Mirajkar (Tej Sapru) wants to take control of the port and rule the city. His younger son, Jimmy (Sudhev Nair), causes chaos when a container goes missing. This container holds dangerous explosives. Jimmy kills many people, including Satya Dada’s younger son.
The twist is that the container was sent by Omi Bhau (Emraan Hashmi), who will do anything to get it back. As things get worse, everyone wants OG—Ojas Gambheera (Pawan Kalyan)—to return to Mumbai. He has been living in exile for years. The film explores questions like: Who is Ojas Gambheera? What is his connection to Satya Dada? Why did he leave Mumbai? What is Omi’s real plan?
Performances:
Director Sujeeth makes full use of Pawan Kalyan’s strong screen presence. He presents the actor in a powerful and stylish way. Pawan Kalyan shines in the police station scene and in emotional moments. Emraan Hashmi’s role could have been more detailed instead of being a typical villain. Priyanka Mohan does well in her short role. Arjun Das and Sriya Reddy leave a good impression. Prakash Raj, Harish Utthaman, and others fit their roles well.
What worked for the film:
Sujeeth takes a familiar gangster story and gives it a stylish look. He makes sure that scenes with Pawan Kalyan are visually striking. Both halves of the movie have exciting moments that fans of PSPK and action films will enjoy. A few episodes in the second half are especially gripping, and the climax is well done. Thaman’s background music is excellent and adds energy to key scenes.
What did not work for the film:
While Sujeeth delivers a stylish film, the story could have been stronger. There are many twists and dramatic moments, but the emotional depth is missing. For example, the conflict between Arjun Das and Pawan Kalyan could have been explored more. The daughter’s character also feels underused. The face-offs between Pawan Kalyan and Emraan Hashmi could have had more impact.
OG Review and Verdict:
Overall, Sujeeth presents OG as a familiar gangster tale filled with exciting scenes. He does a good job pleasing fans, but the story and characters could have been developed better. Thaman’s music stands out and adds great value to the film.
