Story:

Sivaji, a middle-aged man from a remote village in Medak district (united Andhra Pradesh), is a strong caste believer. He insists that his daughter and all girls from his caste should marry only within their community. The story takes a dramatic turn when Sivaji’s daughter falls in love with a man from a lower caste, and a shocking act by his community changes his family’s life forever.

Performances:

Sivaji delivers a powerful performance, portraying all the shades of his character convincingly. He dominates the screen in several key moments. Nandu gets a good scope and makes the most of it with an impressive performance. Navdeep does well in a crucial role, though his screen time is limited. Ravikrishna and Manika Chikala are effective, while Raadhya shines in an important part. Bindu Madhavi, Mounika Reddy, Rajasekhar Aningi, Aditi Bhavaraju, Muralidhar Goud, and others contribute well to their roles.

What Works:

The film begins on an intriguing note, setting the tone effectively. The pre-interval sequence is hard-hitting and impactful. The second half has several strong moments, including scenes between Sivaji and Nandu, Sivaji and Bindu Madhavi, the court scene, and the emotional sequences leading to the climax. These portions stand out and add depth to the narrative.

What Doesn’t Work:

The romance track in the first half feels ordinary and could have been written better, especially since the pair plays an important role in the story. Some moments are predictable, and a few unnecessary comedy scenes in the first half dilute the impact.

Dhandoraa Review and Verdict:

Murali Kanth's Dhandoraa unfolds a heartfelt narrative based on true events. The initial part is decent, but the movie really picks up momentum near the intermission and maintains that impact all the way to the conclusion. While the film has its convenient moments, its intensity ultimately dominates them.
