Story:

Stories of love, longing, adultery, and morality in urban settings are the focus of this linked romantic drama.

Performances:

Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara portray the confusion of desire and loss that many in today's generation can relate to. They both express the underlying psychological issues and social awkwardness hidden behind a facade of bold confidence. Ali Fazal delivers a genuine performance in his role, while Fatima Sana Sheikh shines in a challenging part.

Pankaj Tripathi and Konkona Sen Sharma shine in their roles. Neena Gupta occupies a similar but slightly more confident part. Along with Anupam Kher, she brings the required energy to the scenes. Saswata Chatterjee and others are fine.

What worked for the film:

The movie is a collection of stories, all linked by the theme of love, in various ways and at different stages of life. Experiencing love for someone new, or rekindling love for the same person repeatedly (which is what marriage is, as someone humorously notes). One character finds love again in his wife, another reunites with a past lover, while a third couple struggles with the dilemma.

The first half takes a while to find its pace as you are introduced to this family of characters for the first time. However, once you get comfortable, thanks to the excellent casting and relatable moments, it becomes a soothing experience throughout. The music really draws you in and keeps you in your seat.

What did not work for the film:

In the second half, Metro In Dino becomes somewhat tangled in its numerous subplots. Particularly towards the conclusion, it starts to feel repetitive, and you may become restless. The melodrama also feels a bit ineffective here.

Metro In Dino Review and Verdict:

Anurag Basu's Metro In Dino seeks to highlight the common relationship challenges that today's couples encounter. The film has natural performances and pleasant music, along with some touching and funny moments that hit the mark, but the emotional connection feels a bit off at times.
