Story:

A young couple’s marriage begins to fall apart soon after the honeymoon phase. Their growing differences eventually lead to divorce, reflecting the common challenges seen in modern relationships.

Performances:

Rio Raj delivers a strong performance, handling aggressive, comical, and emotional moments with ease. Malavika Manoj is natural on screen and adds warmth to her character, maintaining a consistent impact. RJ Vigneshkanth and Sheela Rajkumar, who take charge in the second half, also leave a good impression with their performances.

Analysis:

Director Kalaiarasan Thangavel mixes a modern relationship conflict with entertaining elements. He takes on a serious topic but avoids going too deep, which works in favour of the film at times but also limits its depth.

The couple’s arguments feel real, showing how small fights often hide bigger emotional issues. A notable strength is how the director portrays the female lead not as a villain, but as someone whose expectations from marriage differ from her husband’s.

The film balances its scenes well. Strong scenes end at the right moment without sounding preachy, while weaker scenes never feel overly uncomfortable.

One key moment shows Shiva, the hero, comparing his wife to his mother, who never complained about housework. His maid wisely points out that even simple tasks like switching something on or off are often left to women. Shiva’s acceptance of his wife’s decision to divorce, even though it hurts him, becomes an important turning point in the story.

The film could have been more impactful if the director had shown more of the couple’s thoughts about marriage in the initial moments and how the courtroom drama slowly influenced their decisions.

Final Note:

Kalaiarasan Thangavel’s Aan Paavam Pollathathu keeps the audience engaged with a mix of humour, emotion, and a gentle message about companionship. Despite a few weak moments and predictable parts, the film ends on a satisfying note.
