Story:

In Special Ops 2, we dive into the life of Dr. Piyush Bhargava, portrayed by Arif Zakaria, an American national working as an FBI cybersecurity consultant and a top-notch scientist in AI and next-gen technologies. His genius can resolve the cyberattack, and he has access to India's top government offices. He gets kidnapped after an AI conference, and Himmat Singh takes on the case. Himmat teams up with his squad to figure out a fast way to save Bhargava, or else the nation could be in trouble.

Performances:

Kay Kay Menon is spot on as Himmat Singh. He maintains the cool vibe but never misses the intensity of the character. Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sudheer Awasthi, the main villain, is too good. While Gautami Kapoor, Revathi Pillai, Karan Tacker, Muzammil Ibrahim, and Saiyami Kher are good in their roles, it is really disappointing to see Vinay Pathak not being used to his full potential.

What worked for the series:

Season 2 of Special Ops shakes things up by ditching the usual Indo-Pak terror stories and focusing on the rise of cybercrime, which is becoming a big deal lately. The crew captured scenes in beautiful international places such as Budapest, Türkiye, and Georgia, giving the show a rich visual vibe.

The visuals enhance the whole grandeur, and that tense mood sticks with the game between Himmat Singh and Sudheer Awasthi, which is pretty good even if there are a couple of obstacles.

The scenes of Himmat's daughter finally learning about the real backstory of her mother and Himmat, which temporarily hammers their happiness, but they grow stronger after that and have come good.

What did not work for the series:

The concept of a techno war is interesting, but the writing could have done a better job of highlighting the issue and the dangers involved. The subplot with Prakash Raj drags on way too long and could have wrapped up much earlier.

Those scenes where Himmat's gang does not deliver and gets snagged by Sudheer should have been executed much more smoothly.

Special Ops Season 2 Review and Verdict:

Neeraj Pandey's Special Ops 2 aims high, and while it hits a few bumps along the way, it still delivers an engaging experience, thanks to Kay Kay Menon's powerful performance as Himmat Singh. The series goes for a more technology-driven storyline, yet it maintains the emotional depth.
